Meimoa

Meimoa is a small village and civil parish in the municipality of Penamacor, Castelo Branco District, in Portugal’s Beira Baixa interior. It sits in quiet countryside near the Ribeira de Meimoa, with olive groves, rural land, old stone houses and a strong village character. What makes Meimoa more interesting than a typical small inland village is its leisure area: the Zona de Lazer da Meimoa, beside the so-called Roman-Philippine bridge, with a river pool, bar with terrace, grassy shaded areas and sports spaces. The village also has local heritage including the Ponte da Ribeira de Meimoa, Casa do Comendador/Casa do Governador, Museu Doutor Mário Bento, Capela de São Domingos, old fountains, olive presses and Roman traces. It is a good fit for people looking for a peaceful rural base, but with real summer recreation and nature nearby rather than just an isolated hamlet.
